How long has an original xbox console lasted? How long before the laser on the inside dies? How long before the screen flickers and then eventually goes black? How long before the console simply cannot read disks anymore? Is it that the less you move the console the better? Does the retroactive playability of the xbox original games (list still a work in progress) on the xbox 360 play and feel as if it were on the orginal xbox console. What I really want to know is if my xbox will last forever.

i’ve had my xbox since it was released, and i’ve modded it, moved it, dropped it, spilt milk on it… and it’s still going strong
I had this exact problem before. How long your xbox is gonna last all depends on the quality of the hard drive that was installed when it was manufactured. To my knowledge there are 3 brands that are made for it. Im not sure of the 3 off the top of my head. Overall i’d expect 3 years out of it before having to replace it. Thats means basically just letting it sit, and playing it whenever you feel like it. Of course dont do stupid things like spill liquids, drop the thing, etc. Those will just reduce the life of it.
Heh that’s alot of questions, but to answer simply, yes, your Xbox can last quite along time. But this all depends on how you treat it.
So long as you clean it monthly or weekly depending on how often you play and make sure you don’t sling it around and get dirt in it and spill drinks on it, it will last you a good 10 more years till it dies like most consoles originally do. Just by sheer exhaustion of machine’s insides. They wear out from constant and fun play.
But the 360 has many more accessories and apps on it than the orig and can be manipulated for many more uses. Plus Halo 3 is coming out on it ^^
IT SHOULD LAST U TEN YEARS DEPENDING WHEN U GOT IT. CAUSE THEY HAVE UPGRADED THE XBOX AND I DONT MEAN LIKE TO 360
Each Xbox is made to last as long as it can. Its hard to say when yours will die. Each household is diffrent.(dust,smoke,dropping it,not taking care of it). But most likely a xbox will last a good 4 years. Then you will start noticing some problems.
