There are three key parts to a wireless internet connection:
1. A modem. This is the device that will connect to your ISP (or Internet Service Provider -- the people who you are paying to serve you with internet connectivity). High speed internet modems can be DSL (using a phone line), Cable (using a coaxial connection to your television provider), Satellite (using a coaxial connection to your Satellite Internet dish), or Wireless (connecting over-air to a provider such as Clearwire).
2. A router. This is the device that your computers will use to connect, wirelessly, with each other and with the modem. You will want to set this up with some sort of security; the most commonly used is a WEP key, which is just a 32 (or more) character code that your router knows, and you tell your computers to use, to connect -- so that unauthorized users can't connect to your network.
3. A wireless network card or device. This is either a USB, external device, or a card (PCI or PCMCIA, for laptops) that is installed on each of your computers, that allows your computer to communicate through the air, and connect to your router.
The modem needs to be connected to the router (by a CAT5 or CAT6 network cable), and also to your ISP's method of internet transport.
Alternately, some modems have a built-in wireless router/access point, but I generally prefer to use a router and turn off the modem's wireless capability, for the improved firewall most routers have.
You may also have to connect your PC to the modem directly (through a cable) to configure it, and the router may need to be connected similarly to set it up as well, but can be disconnected and used wirelessly once this is done.
Your xbox, of course, will need a wireless adapter as well. From what I understand, they can use USB devices, but only ones that have been authorized by Microsoft. Check Microsoft.com for more information.

well it depends on your likes
1) wireless head set, you can plug this into the back of the 360 with the plug that comes with the headset, very simple and small that slides onto your ear
pros- small, fits comfortably, easy to use (not a bunch of buttons)
cons- very sensitive, people can hear some stuff that is happening in my house so far away, little is also a con you could lose and to charge xbox has to be on =[
turtle beach- A head set fits around your head with two padded cushions on each side for each ear. Very comfortable and helpful in game
Pros- It is surrond sound in your ears, in games like Call of Duty , it is very helpful to hear enemies sneaking around can be used for other games where this feature would help.
Cons- really nothing exept they are pricy =[
that are all the ones i know of , if price dosen't matter deffinetly the turtle beach but other than that wireless is pretty good too good luck and happy gaming

In regards to your question, if money isn't really an issue Turtle Beach Headset for Xbox 360 is probably the best money can buy. The second best headset that I'd recommend is the official Xbox 360 wireless headset, as it's very durable and holds its charge for quite some time. If buying online isn't an issue, using Newegg for your headset can save you quite a lot of money.

You can use a memory card. Just go to memory in the system tab on the xbox guide and copy his profile to the memory card. However, I would recommend just recovering his gamertag on his xbox when he gets it. It will transfer his avatar and all of his gamerscore by simply downloading it. This would be the easiest solution. To do this, when he first turns on his xbox, instead of creating a new profile, click on recover gamertag.

Well the pro doesn't come with the HDMI cable in Australia. There's a color difference and the hardrive is sixty gig bigger. The elite also has a nice slimmer design.
